Slideshow- Kyle Biro’s Yamaha YZ250F Race Bike
We have covered the motocross racing successes of Kyle and Jarret Biro in this space a few times over the years. The AMSOIL-sponsored motocross racers are two of the fastest and most successful amateur racers in the nation. Both of the Moose Jaw-based riders have won Western Canadian Amateur titles and have also been on the podium in the Canadian Amateur National Championships.
This past weekend was a very special milestone as Kyle participated in his very first CMRC Canadian Pro National race in Regina, SK. Against seasoned pro riders in the MX2 class, Kyle finished a very solid 11th in the first moto. In the second moto, he was running in 8th until the halfway point when he tried a new line through a fast downhill section and was pitched over the bars. The bike landed on him and once he got back up, the bike wouldn’t start. After several dozen kicks and three lost laps, Kyle finally got going again to finish the race. Despite the second moto problems, Kyle proved that he had the speed to run in the top ten against Canadian (and many American) professionals. At just 17, Kyle definitely turned some heads with his performance.
For the rest of the season, Kyle and Jarret will be focusing on the Western Canadian Amateur Nationals at Raymond, Alberta and the Trans Can Grand National Championships at Walton, Ontario. For 2015, Jarret makes the big move to a 125cc bike from the Supermini and 85cc bikes, but we expect he’ll be up to the challenge. He scored podium finishes in both Raymond and Walton last year in the ultra-competitive Supermini class. Kyle will be looking to close out his amateur career on a strong note. Kyle will also take part in the Walton round of the Pro Nationals which takes place just after the Trans Can amateur event.
Kyle Biro’s Yamaha YZ250F Race Bike
Kyle’s race bike is certainly a looker, but she is certainly more than just a pretty face. It started life as a stock 2014 Yamaha YZ250F which was provided by sponsorship from Schrader Motors and Yamaha Canada. Kyle’s father Keith is an exceptional race bike mechanic, so he had a vision of how to take this bike from stone-stock to to the point where it would be competitive in the pro ranks. Let’s take a look at the details in this slideshow.
