Dominator Coolant Boost Speeds Engine Warmup Times in Winter

Most consider the main benefits of AMSOIL Dominator Coolant Boost to be its ability to lower engine operating temps and fight corrosion. But an equally interesting upside to this product is its ability to drastically hasten engine warm-up times in cold weather by up to 45%.

Dominator Coolant Boost has what AMSOIL calls a “proprietary tiered surfactant technology”. This surfactant package reduces the surface tension of water and antifreeze, allowing for closer contact with metal parts. This enhanced contact improves the ability of the coolant to draw heat away from engine parts. Conversely, the “3-tiered” surfactant technology improves cooling system performance, not only at the highest operating temps, but also at coldest start-up’s. The table below outlines the results of controlled testing of AMSOIL Dominator Coolant Boost with a 50/50 antifreeze/water mix. Warm air begins coming out of the defroster at around 120F. The time it takes to reach this temperature with Coolant Boost is reduced by 45% compared to the 50/50 antifreeze/water mix alone.
