AMSOIL Releases New Z-ROD 10W-40 For Classic Cars
AMSOIL has made an addition to the Z-ROD Synthetic Motor Oil Series. Z-ROD is now available as a 10W-40. Z-ROD is also available in 10W-30 and 20W-50 grades.
About AMSOIL Z-ROD Synthetic Motor Oil
AMSOIL Z-ROD is designed from the ground-up for classic cars and street rods. There are two main features that make Z-ROD the ultimate classic car engine oil.
1. Z-ROD contains 1440 ppm of zinc and 1320 ppm of phosphorus. These ingredients offer exceptional flat tappet cam protection. Z-ROD can also be used in roller cam engines. The synthetic makeup and robust chemistry gives Z-ROD incomparable wear control capabilities for powerful classic engines.
2. Classic cars tend to spend much of their time in storage. So AMSOIL added anti-rust and corrosion agents to Z-ROD. This protects engine internals and seals from damage during long storage periods.
Z-ROD is not suitable for modern cars and trucks due to its high zinc and phosphorus levels.
Why Did AMSOIL Add A 10W-40 To The Z-ROD Series?
Z-ROD was already available in 10W-30 and 20W-50. But as 10W-40 is a popular viscosity for classic engines, this addition makes good sense.
AMSOIL Premium Protection Synthetic 10W-40 is and was an option for classic engines. It offers similar zinc and phosphorus levels to Z-ROD. However, it does not contain the anti-corrosion ingredients offered by Z-ROD.
Can Synthetic Oil Be Used In Older Engines?
Absolutely. Synthetic oil (such as Z-ROD series) is perfectly compatible with the seals, gaskets and all internal components of classic engines. It will not cause leaks. It is also compatible with any remnants of conventional oil in the engine.
