Frequently Asked Questions About AMSOIL Air Filter Oil
Can AMSOIL’s new filter oil be used with either stock air filters or aftermarket air filters?
Yes, this filter oil is compatible with stock oiled-foam air filters. It is also compatible with aftermarket oiled-foam filters from makers such as Twin-Air or Uni Filter.
Can this product replace bottled filter oil?
Yes, spray-on AMSOIL Air Filter Oil can replace bottled and “drip-on” type air filter oil.
How do you clean dirty air filters treated AMSOIL Air Filter Oil?
Follow the air filter maker’s instructions for acceptable detergents or solvents that are compatible with the filter element. Commercially available filter cleaning solutions (such as those from Twin-Air) are also acceptable.
Can this product replace foam air filter oil such as those from Maxima, No-Toil, Bel-Ray, Motorex, Uni, Twin-Air, PJ1, etc.?
Yes, this product can replace any commercially-available aerosol or bottled air filter oil designed for oiled-foam air filters.
Can AMSOIL Air Filter Oil be used on K&N air filters?
No, this product is not compatible for K&N air filters (or similar). K&N air filters have a cotton-gauze filter element, rather than a foam element. Therefore, K&N air filters require a different type of filter oil than foam air filters.
Should this air filter oil be used on paper filters?
No, this product should not be used on paper air filters. Paper or cellulose type filters generally do not require oiling.
Should I grease the air filter mating lip?
Some air filters require a light coating of grease to seal where the filter mates against the air box. This practice prevents contaminants from sneaking through at the mating surface area. Consult the instructions in the motorcycle owner’s manual or air filter instructions.
Why isn’t AMSOIL Air Filter Oil available in Canada?
This product is only available for sale in the US. It is not imported into Canada because of federal VOC (volatile organic compound) limits. Several of AMSOIL’s aerosol products are not eligible for sale in Canada due to these VOC regulations.
