Can AMSOIL Interceptor Be Used in Lawn/Garden Tools?
A reader asks: I’ve got leftover AMSOIL Interceptor on hand from my snowmobile and I’m wondering if I can use this oil as a premix for my 2-cycle chain saw, grass trimmer and leaf blower?
Answer: Yes you certainly can, but let’s expand our answer to include AMSOIL AIO Synthetic Injector Oil (for boats and snowmobiles), which can also be used in lawn and garden applications.
Interceptor or AIO Injector Oil can be mixed at a ratio of 50:1 and each will provide effective performance in all two-stroke lawn/garden tools.
While a product like Interceptor can provide relentless protection in a 160 horsepower snowmobile, it will also work just fine in a 0.85 horsepower string trimmer engine. However, our first choice for a 2-stroke premix oil for this type of service is AMSOIL Saber Professional Synthetic 2-Stroke Premix. It is designed to provide exceptional, low-smoke service in all lawn implements.
Bonus tip: Whenever possible, use only premium gasoline that does not contain ethanol in small engines. Ethanol can be poison to small engines because it can attract moisture. When trace amounts of water and ethanol enters the engine, the result can be dangerously lean combustion that can literally fry your motor. This applies to both lawn/garden engines and recreational motors. Gas pumps are labelled to show the percentage of ethanol, so keep an eye on this. Regular fuel with ethanol is just fine for your car or truck as they are tuned to deal with it.
