Marcel Irnie Fights for Points in Nova Scotia
AMSOIL sponsored motorcycle road racer Marcel Irnie earned a hard fought 8th place finish in the Armour Bodies Amateur 600 Sport Bike class of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship at Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie, NS on August 10th. Marcel tells us that he crashed hard during Sunday morning practice, just 3 hours before the race. He iced his injuries and was able to get on his bike for the race. Unfortunately his belly pan came loose on the first lap, so he pulled off the track and bailed in the mud at 5 kph. The bike stalled and would not re-start. Luckily the race was red flagged due to another incident and he was able to patch his bike together and go racing. He lined up on the last row for the re-start and was able to work his way up to 8th position which he would hold until the checkered flag. For his tenacity and hard work, Marcel won the Performance Under Gear Performance of the Race Award for the second time this season. Marcel scored a 7th place finish on the previous day. Marcel is currently 7th in the points standings and will be competing in the final round at Shannonville Motorsport Park on August 28-31.
