Directions for Use
AMSOIL Outboard Synthetic 2-Stroke Pre-Mix Oil can safely be mixed at ratios up to 100:1 for normal outboard use, regardless of the ratio suggested by the engine manufacturer. This makes it ideal for fleet owners as well as individual boat owners. Richer mix ratios can certainly be used if necessary. If you would prefer to use a richer ratio, mixes of 60:1 and up still work very well.

Oildepot Outboard Fuel Tip
We suggest using only premium grade gasoline (when available) in two-stroke gasoline/oil mixes. The reason is not because there is any advantage to the increased octane. The main reason is that premium gas often does not contain ethanol. The ethanol content of regular and mid-grade gasoline absorbs moisture and creates a lean condition that can potentially result in engine failure. We make this suggestion for all small engines, but this is especially important in marine applications. Don’t take our word for it; ask your favorite small engine mechanic what he thinks of ethanol.
For times that only regular fuel is available, we suggest adding AMSOIL Quickshot Small Engine Fuel Saver to every two-stroke fuel batch. Quickshot not only mitigates the effects of ethanol, it also cleans carburetors and stabilizes gasoline during boating season.
How Can AMSOIL Suggest Mix Ratios Up to 100:1?
While a 100:1 premix ratio may seem extreme to some, considering how AMSOIL Outboard Synthetic 2-Stroke Pre-Mix Oil is formulated, it is perfectly safe. AMSOIL has been marketing a 100% synthetic 100:1 2-stroke premix oil since the mid-1970’s with impeccable results. Outboard Synthetic 2-Stroke Pre-Mix Oil uses a 100% synthetic base oil with a film strength that is several times that of conventional two-stroke oil. AMSOIL formulated this product to prevent deposits and deliver exceptionally clean combustion. Outboard Synthetic 2-Stroke Pre-Mix Oil isn’t just safe at 100:1, we would argue that it is far safer than a regular 2-stroke oil mixed at 50:1.
