Should I Use AMSOIL V-Twin Synthetic Transmission Oil or 20W-50 in My Harley Transmission?
Either product is perfectly appropriate. Many Harley-Davidson owners prefer to use AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil for the convenience of using a single oil in the engine, transmission and primary chaincase. AMSOIL 20W-50 is designed to provide the utmost performance and protection in “all three holes”, so this is completely acceptable. The viscosity of the two products is very similar. When the viscosity of V-Twin Synthetic Transmission Oil is interpreted in terms of gear oil viscosity, is it an SAE 110.
Enables Silky Smooth Shifts
AMSOIL V-Twin Synthetic Transmission Oil’s superior friction fighting properties optimize up-shifts and down-shifts for dependable gearbox operation. Lower friction makes for an easier time finding neutral and less noise when selecting gears.
Steadfast Gear Protection
AMSOIL has loaded this transmission oil with extreme pressure additives to cushion gears from metal-to-metal wear. The robust synthetic formulation resists viscosity loss, so it can deliver steady gear protection all season long.
Cools Hot Temps and Maintains Steady Viscosity
Air-cooled V-Twin engines can radiate a tremendous amount of heat. AMSOIL V-Twin Synthetic Transmission Oil’s friction-reducing design lowers transmission operating temperatures and maintains its proper viscosity in the face of long, hot days.
Mixing AMSOIL V-Twin Synthetic Transmission Oil With Other Brands
AMSOIL V-Twin Synthetic Transmission Oil is compatible with other brands of conventional, semi-synthetic and synthetic transmission fluid. While you can safely mix AMSOIL V-Twin Transmission Oil with other brands, this will reduce the drain interval and performance capabilities of this product.
Service Life Of AMSOIL V-Twin Synthetic Transmission Oil
AMSOIL Synthetic V-Twin Transmission Oil should be changed every 20,000 miles (32,000 km) or once per season (whichever comes first).
