Provides heavy-duty protection with remarkable cold weather performance in differentials where an API GL-5 75W-140 is required. Now available in the convenient new Easy-Pack container.
Features and Benefits of AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-140 Synthetic Oil
- Contains exclusive Severe Gear extreme pressure additives
- Pours down to -46C (-51F) for dependable cold weather performance
- Reduces operating temperatures during hot temperatures and tough going
- Reduces friction to optimize fuel efficiency
- Keeps seals pliable for long term leak prevention
- Overbuilt for long service life
- Prevents rust and corrosion
Heavy Duty Wear Control
Severe Gear 75W-140 uses AMSOIL’s finest synthetic base oils and then loads it with extreme pressure additives. The robust 75W-140 viscosity is designed to protect from metal-to-metal contact. Withstands severe shock loads and during long periods of intense torque.
Flawless Cold Weather Protection
While other 75W-140 gear oils are gelled in extreme cold, Severe Gear Synthetic 75W-140 flows to vital components. With a cold-pour-point of -46C (-51F), protection, performance and fuel economy are not compromised when the mercury dips.
Protects in Extreme Heat
When exposed to extended periods of hot operating temperatures, heat can build-up and spiral out of control in some gear lubes. The viscosity protection can break down and the additive package can be decimated, severely compromising protective capabilities. AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-140 keeps heat and friction in check and actually lowers operating temperatures. Components receive steady protection regardless of high heat or heavy loads.
Synthetic Friction Reduction
Despite the heavy 75W-140 viscosity, Severe Gear’s elite synthetic formula minimizes friction to optimize fuel economy and deliver the best possible performance.
Keeps Seals Pliable and Leak-Free
AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-140 is designed to keep seals supple and prevent shrinking. Seals last longer and leaks are prevented.
Limited Slip Differentials and Severe Gear 75W-140: Is a Friction Modifier Additive Needed?
AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-140 does contain limited-slip additives, but differential chatter can occasionally occur in some vehicles. As a precautionary measure, we recommend adding roughly two-thirds of a bottle of AMSOIL Slip-Lock Limited Slip additive or the counterpart OEM limited-slip differential additive.

Mixing AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-140 with Other Brands
AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-140 Synthetic Oil is compatible with all other brands of conventional, semi-synthetic and synthetic gear oils. While you can safely mix AMSOIL Severe Gear with other brands, this will reduce the drain interval and performance capabilities of AMSOIL gear oil.
Do not add aftermarket oil additives (other than limited-slip friction modifiers).

Service Life of AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-140 Synthetic Oil
Automotive Applications
Note: These service intervals do not apply in situations where water immersion occurs. Change Severe Gear 75W-140 frequently under these conditions.
Normal Service
Change at 100,000 miles (160,000 km) or the interval as prescribed by the OEM (whichever is longer).
Severe Service*
Change at 50,000 miles (80,000 km). *Severe service can be described as racing, frequent towing, snow-plowing, hauling or frequently dusty conditions.
Heavy Duty Class 8 Truck
Change at intervals up to 250,000 miles (400,000 km) or follow the OEM recommendation for synthetic oil (whichever comes first).
Heavy Duty Off-Road
Change at intervals up to 120,000 miles (190,000 km) or follow the OEM recommendation for synthetic oil (whichever comes first). If these recommendations do not apply, change at twice the OEM oil change interval for conventional oil.
