Why Is There A “75W-110” Gear Lube?
The 75W-110 gear oil grade exists for applications where 75W-90 gear oil is specified, but extra viscosity is desired. For example, 75W-110 could be ideal in vehicles used for very heavy towing or hauling. It provides better fuel efficiency than a 75W-140 gear lube, but still offers an extra measure of protection over 75W-90 gear lubes.
Features And Benefits Of AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-110 Synthetic Oil

- Conditions seals
- Designed for long service life
- Contains rust and corrosion inhibitors
Maximum Wear Protection For Heavy Hauling
AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-110 contains the elite anti-wear package and extreme pressure ingredients only found in the Severe Gear series. This oil protects from extreme loads, all day hauling and searing heat. You can rest assured that you are installing world-class wear protection.
Amazing Winter Performance
Severe Gear Synthetic 75W-110 boasts an amazing cold-pour-point of -43°C (-45°F). Oil moves to vital parts immediately. Winter efficiency and performance are not compromised.
Prevents Heat Deterioration
Under heavy loads and extreme heat, conventional gear oil can start to deteriorate quite rapidly. AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-110’s synthetic formula is designed to lower friction. Therefore, operating temperatures stay under control. Severe Gear’s viscosity will remain stable, so wear protection is steady and sure during long days and over extended service periods.
Reduced Friction Improves Efficiency
Aside from cooler operation, the other benefit of reduced friction is optimized efficiency. Using synthetic oil in components like differentials optimizes overall efficiency. The 75W-110 viscosity also offers lower resistance compared to 75W-140 gear lubes.
Synthetic Gear Lube Will Prevent Leaks
AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-110 conditions seal materials which prevents drying, cracking and shrinkage. Seals are maintained over the life of Severe Gear. This is helpful for vehicles that log big miles and those that are stored for long periods.
Limited Slip Differentials: Is Installing an Additive Necessary?
AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-110 does contain friction modifiers for limited slip differentials. However, there are instances where differential noise can still occur. As a preventative measure, we recommend adding roughly two-thirds of a bottle of AMSOIL Slip-Lock Limited-Slip Additive or a comparable OEM limited-slip differential additive.

Mixing AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-110 With Other Brands
AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-110 Synthetic Oil is compatible with all other brands of conventional, semi-synthetic and synthetic API GL-5 gear oils. While you can safely mix AMSOIL Severe Gear with other brands, this will reduce the drain interval and performance capabilities of AMSOIL gear oil.
The use of any aftermarket oil additives (other than friction modifier additives for limited-slip differentials) is definitely NOT recommended.
