New York Times: The 3,000-Mile Oil Change Is Pretty Much History
As many of you may have noted, the antiquated notion of the 3000 mile (5000KM) oil change is slowly disappearing. While AMSOIL invented the “extended drain interval” concept back in 1972, improved oil and vehicle technology has finally brought the automotive market in their direction, more than a generation later. This recent New York Times article entitled, The 3,000-Mile Oil Change Is Pretty Much History, further discredits those who still proclaim that oil needs to be changed every 3000 miles (5000KM).
AMSOIL’s robust synthetic products have been dispelling this myth for almost 40 years. Millions upon millions of miles have have been driven with oil that has successfully been in service for tens of thousands of miles and several months. Unlike the rest of the industry, AMSOIL has always encouraged customers to have their oil lab-tested to back up their claims.
