About the Ford F-150 3.0L Turbo-Diesel Power Stroke Engine

Ford first released the turbo-charged V-6 3.0L Power Stroke diesel engine for the 2018 model-year. It was initially available only in the high-end Lariat and King Ranch F-150 trim levels.

The 3.0L Power Stroke engine has a listed output of 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. It is mated with a ten-speed automatic transmission for optimized fuel economy. As a result, the two-wheel drive, crew-cab version reportedly gets 30 miles per US-gallon (12.75 km/L).

Oil Filter For The Ford F-150 3.0L Diesel Power Stroke?

For the time being, we do not offer an oil filter for this engine. However, we hope to get the WIX WL7490 oil filter in soon. This WIX oil filter is a high-quality replacement for the Motorcraft FL-2081 oil filter from your Ford dealer.

AMSOIL Interceptor Synthetic 2-Stroke Injector OilAMSOIL Interceptor Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil now meets and exceeds the requirements for the JASO FD industry specification. Why does this matter? Ski-Doo recently started recommending the use of JASO FD-compliant 2-stroke oils for their E-TEC snowmobile engines.

AMSOIL Interceptor has been extensively tested for use in Ski-Doo E-TEC engines. The addition of this spec further cements Interceptor’s credentials as the ideal 2-stroke oil for E-TEC engines. We have received nothing but rave reviews about Interceptor from our E-TEC customers. Best of all, the 100% synthetic Interceptor is priced lower than Ski-Doo/BRP 2T E-TEC Synthetic Oil or BRP Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil.

What Is The “JASO FD” 2-Stroke Oil Specification?

JASO FD is a two-stroke oil industry specification set by the Japanese Automotive Standards Organization.

As with previous JASO two-stroke oil specs, JASO FD has a number of performance and smoke guidelines. This newest “FD” specification places a much greater emphasis on detergency and engine cleanliness.

How Is AMSOIL Interceptor Suitable For Ski-Doo E-TEC Engines?

The direct injection Ski-Doo E-TEC engine sets new standards in terms of fuel efficiency, low emissions and horsepower per cubic centimeter.

One of the main features of E-TEC engines is that they consume very little 2-stroke oil. A relatively small amount of oil is the difference between peak performance or an expensive engine failure. For this reason, E-TEC engines require a very advanced synthetic 2-stroke oil. AMSOIL Interceptor offers highly sophisticated synthetic anti-wear chemistry. Extensive testing in Ski-Doo E-TEC engines has proven that Interceptor provides outstanding wear control.

Another important oil requirement for E-TEC’s is cleanliness. The precise E-TEC engines require very clean internals. This is the main reason why BRP is requiring the use of 2-stroke oils that meet the JASO FD spec. Interceptor has world-class cleaning ingredients that keep E-TEC engines operating at their peak. It also keeps RAVE variable exhaust power valves clean which optimizes performance. AMSOIL Interceptor’s clean-burning performance exceeds the JASO FD requirements.

One of the special features of the E-TEC engine is a (mostly) one-pull start in extreme cold. AMSOIL Interceptor pours down to -56°C (-69°F) for instant cold-start oil flow.

Interceptor ticks all of the boxes for E-TEC use. It provides elite wear protection, high film strength, minimal friction, robust detergent ingredients and low-smoke.

In conclusion, Interceptor offers all of these features at a lower price than BRP 2T E-TEC Synthetic Oil.

Here are our best-selling passenger car engine oil and diesel motor oil viscosities for the past year. These statistics are based on our sales only, so these numbers are not indicative of sales in the overall motor oil market.

Passenger Car/Light-Truck Motor Oil Sales Rankings

One of the first things we looked at is how much market share 5W-30 still holds. Automakers have been steadily moving to 5W-20 and 0W-20 motor oil for several years. If one adds the market share of 0W-20 and 5W-20, they eclipse 5W-30 by 12.59%.

The 0W-16 viscosity was introduced in 2018, but sales literally didn’t move the needle. It was suggested for only a couple of Honda and Toyota models in 2018. It will be interesting to see if 0W-16 starts to make strides in 2019.

Chart Passenger Car Viscosity 2018

Diesel Engine Oil Sales Rankings

The story in the diesel engine oil space over the past few years is 5W-40 replacing 15W-40 as king of the hill. The 5W-40 grade is now a common (and very viable) all-season choice in many diesel engines. Again, these stats are based on our sales and not the overall diesel engine oil market.

AMSOIL Heavy Duty Metal ProtectorA reader asks: I’ve seen where a number of AMSOIL aerosol spray products are listed on the US AMSOIL website, but are not included in the Canadian AMSOIL price list. Can a Canadian still buy products like AMSOIL Heavy Duty Metal Protector from the US site?

Our answer:  Unfortunately, several AMSOIL aerosol products cannot be imported into Canada. This is because some AMSOIL spray products exceed Canadian volatile organic compound (or “VOC”) limits.

The complete list of AMSOIL aerosol products that cannot be brought into Canada are listed below. You may see these products listed on the AMSOIL corporate site, but they disappear when logged in from a Canadian account.

As you’ll see, AMSOIL Heavy Duty Metal Protector is one of the products that cannot be shipped into Canada.

What Are Volatile Organic Compounds?

A VOC is a category of chemical compounds that are easily converted to gas or vapor. There is a wide range of VOCs. Canada tightened restrictions on VOCs in recent years to curb products that could harm air quality.

Which AMSOIL Aerosol Sprays Are Restricted In Canada?

The following products are not stocked at Canadian AMSOIL warehouses. They also cannot be ordered from the US and shipped into Canada.

  • Heavy Duty Metal Protector
  • Mudslinger
  • Engine Degreaser
  • Glass Cleaner
  • Miracle Wash Waterless Wash and Wax Spray
  • Power Foam
  • Heavy-Duty Degreaser
  • Silicone Spray
  • Engine Fogging Oil
  • Chain Lube
  • Firearm Cleaner and Protectant
  • Brake and Part Cleaner

What Is An AMSOIL Catalog Customer?

Orders placed at full suggested retail are also called “catalog orders”. US catalog orders received a free shipping option earlier this year. Why would a customer want to order at full suggested retail? For very small orders (such as just a few bottles), a wholesale account may not make sense.

Here is the complete list of AMSOIL Account Types and Free Shipping Options in Canada and US.

How to Place AMSOIL Orders

  • The first step is to request a wholesale price list using the form on this page. You may be surprised to find that an AMSOIL wholesale account is feasible even for relatively small orders.
  • Once you have a wholesale account, orders can be placed online or by telephone.
  • If your order is just a few quarts, an order at full suggested retail would be an option.
  • Here are ordering options.

AMSOIL Account Types

Dealers

AMSOIL dealers can re-sell and market the products. Dealers can earn a commission as well as the retail mark-up profit.

Preferred Customers

This wholesale option is for individuals using AMSOIL products for their personal use. This is AMSOIL’s most popular wholesale program.

Retailer Account

Retailer wholesale accounts can be any type of storefront business that installs or re-sells AMSOIL products. Parts stores, oil change shops or power sports dealers are examples.

Commercial

Commercial wholesale accounts are business enterprises with fleets or equipment. This type of account uses the products for company-use and does not re-sell. Examples include farm, construction, plumbing, electrician, trucking and much more.

Catalog Customer

A catalog customer is simply an AMSOIL customer that buys the products at full suggested retail prices. These tend to be customers that place very small orders. Anyone wishing to buy AMSOIL with orders approaching a case lot should consider a Preferred Customer membership. Again, contact us with using the form on this page for more details.

AMSOIL Severe Gear Easy-PackAMSOIL has invented a revolutionary new packaging format for easier and more convenient gear oil fills. The new “Easy-Pack” flexible container will be available in the Severe Gear 75W-90 and 75W-140 grades.

AMSOIL devised the Easy-Pack concept. It is exclusive to AMSOIL Severe Gear products.

Features Of The New Severe Gear Easy-Pack

The main feature is the flexible packaging that allows you to work around tight spots. Filling differentials and transfer cases often involves working in very tight areas. Easy-Pack can be contorted into tight areas and then squeezed to release the gear oil once the nozzle is in place.

Speaking of the nozzle, Easy-Pack’s filler tip allows you to accurately place every drop of gear oil exactly where it is meant to go.

Easy-Pack contains one US quart (.946L) of gear oil.

Pricing Of AMSOIL Severe Gear Easy-Pack

The pricing of the Severe Gear Easy-Pack format is exactly the same as the US quart bottle pricing. Contact us using the form on this page for a Canadian or US AMSOIL price list.

AMSOIL synthetic oil can now be purchased using PayPal as a payment method. This payment option is available with online orders only at the AMSOIL corporate site. We strongly suggest exploring an AMSOIL wholesale account before purchasing. We can certainly help you with that.

This new payment option applies to all AMSOIL account types including catalog customers (buying at suggested retail), Preferred Customers, AMSOIL Dealers, retailer and commercial accounts.

How To Buy AMSOIL Products With PayPal

  • Get a wholesale account (optional, but highly recommended). Contact us for a wholesale price list using the form on this page.
  • If you do not want a wholesale account or if you are buying smaller quantities (just a quart or two), you can buy at suggested retail. For smaller orders, you can start shopping here. PayPal will be a payment option once you checkout.
  • Once you have a wholesale account, contact us for the steps to create an online log-in at the AMSOIL corporate site. We won’t go into the steps for that process here.
  • Do not use the “EZ Online Form”. This is a form that allows you to manually type in product part numbers to build your order. The EZ Online Form is handy, but this option will not allow you to use PayPal to pay for your order.
