No “Energy Surcharge” for Canadian Customers in June
Due to the rise in raw material costs, there were rumblings that AMSOIL would apply an energy surcharge to Canadian prices starting June 1st. A 5% energy surcharge was implemented for US customers starting May 1st, but because the Loonie has risen versus the US dollar since then, it has offset the need to add this surcharge. Here is the company statement:
ENERGY SURCHARGE for June to hold at 5% in the United States and Puerto Rico. No surcharge to be implemented in Canada for June.
Although raw material cost increases so far during the month of May would indicate a need to increase the energy surcharge to at least 6%, AMSOIL will continue to hold the surcharge to 5% for another month. AMSOIL will once again review the situation at the end of June and determine if a move to 7% or beyond is required.
Due to the recent fluctuations in the Canadian exchange rate, AMSOIL has also decided to hold off implementing the surcharge program in Canada. Although a 2% surcharge would be appropriate at this time, the company will absorb the cost increases and avoid rolling out a surcharge in Canada until it requires at least a 3% surcharge at minimum.
With the cost of all brands of lubricants on the rise, AMSOIL still offers the most cost-effective alternative. AMSOIL products extend drain intervals, improve fuel economy and increase engine life.
